Kenneth Høegh
Head of Representation, Representation of Greenland to the United States and Canada

Jesper Møller Sørensen
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to the United States of America

This week, my colleague and I have been meeting with key members of Congress to advance our shared priorities across the Atlantic.

Through our discussions with Senator Lindsey Graham, The House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Congressman Brian Mast, Congressman Kevin Hern, Congressman Ami Bera, Congressman Neal Dunn and Congressman Nick Begich we’re fostering deeper collaboration in areas like Greenland, Arctic security cooperation and economic growth.

Together, the Kingdom of Denmark and the U.S. are working for a future built on shared interests, values and mutual respect. Important to underline that “Your security is our security!”.

Our main messages to members of Congress have been:

  • We are close allies and should continue to work together as such. US security is also Greenland’s and Denmark’s security
  • The US military has been in Greenland since World War 2. We all benefit from that, and we welcome a discussion on an even stronger footprint.
  • Greenland is part of NATO, and Greenland will continue to be part of NATO.
  • The Kingdom of Denmark and the United States will work together to ensure security in the Arctic
  • Denmark is determined to invest further in security in the Arctic in close cooperation with Greenland.
  • Greenland is open for business and welcome closer cooperation on trade and investment, including critical minerals.

We are strong partners 🇬🇱🇺🇸🇩🇰. We thank you for your time.
