In April 2016, territorial premiers released A Pan-Northern Approach to Science. The strategy recognizes that it is not sufficient to study the North from afar. Broadening our own understanding of the North, and drawing upon traditional knowledge as well as modern science, will improve our collective ability to operate in an environment that is fragile to begin with, and undergoing serious and rapid change. Advances in knowledge and understanding are necessary to achieving the collaborative vision for the North shared by the territories and outlined in A Northern Vision.
