Venue: ARTEK, Siimuup Aqqutaa 32, 3911 Sisimiut, Greenland
We are delighted to announce that Polar Research and Policy Initiative (PRPI) will be hosting a roundtable on Developing an Arctic Infrastructure Standard at ARTEK in Sisimiut, Greenland, from 6 pm to 8 pm (GMT-2) on 12 June 2019. Our local institutional partners are ARTEK (Arctic Technology Centre) and INUTEK (Technological Society of Greenland), and the roundtable will be led by Peter Sherwin, Fellow in our Built Environment Unit at PRPI. This roundtable is mainly for local stakeholders, particularly policymakers, built environment professionals, investors, business leaders, researchers and others with an interest in Arctic infrastructure. Interested delegates from outside Greenland are welcome to join via videoconference. If you plan to attend in person or join via videoconference, we would be most grateful if you could write to Peter (p.sherwin@polarconnection.org) in advance to let him know.
This will be our second stakeholder engagement dialogue on our ongoing work in developing a region-wide infrastructure standard and accreditation scheme for the Arctic. We had made our first presentation about the same at the meeting of the Arctic Security Working Group in Detah, Northwest Territories (Canada), in May 2019. While the project deals with the Arctic as a whole, each dialogue has a local focus, and the second roundtable will focus more on infrastructure in Greenland. The second roundtable is an opportunity for our friends across Greenland – as local experts – to take the driver’s seat, while we – as process specialists – facilitate, listen, learn and compile.
