Prof Dr Gisele M Arruda has extensive experience as a principal researcher of Global Governance, Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Leadership, Energy, Sustainable Business (Low Carbon and CChange), Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility.
At Oxford Brookes University, she researches Governance, Environment, Arctic Studies (Social impacts of energy and resources development) and Education. Gisele also carries out research into higher education pedagogies and manages consultancy projects in education as a programme and curriculum designer. She has been a Fellow of Higher Education Academy since 2014 and a Fellow of Royal Geographical Society since 2015. She is Member of Friends of Bodleian since 2007.
Gisele is an experienced lecturer and presenter of workshops and international conferences and has given ten conference keynote speeches, including the prestigious Arctic Circle, Arctic Frontiers, UK Arctic Science, OECD, etc. Gisele has published 50 refereed journal articles, 5 monographs, 5 book chapters and 7 books and given 30 International conference presentations.
She has worked as a scientific advisor to universities, examination boards, and as business manager and consultant in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability for the Oil and Gas, Mining, Petrochemical and Pharmaceutical sectors for companies like Exxon Mobil, Anglo American, Sanofi, Pfizer, Rhone Poulanc, British Council, British Embassy (Norway).
She has been an advisor for several governmental and non-governmental organizations advising policy-makers and elaborating reports. Additionally, she supervises PhD students as a Director of Studies and supports post-graduation learning. She is editor-in-chief of Energy, Arctic and Climate Change International Journal and a reviewer for Geographical Journal of Higher Education. She has been an advisor along the last 30 years and is currently advising Arctic companies and governments.
