On 7 May 2019, Dr Dwayne Ryan Menezes participated in the Munich Security Conference Arctic Security Roundtable in the Grand Committee Room of the Finnish Parliament in Helsinki. President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and Munich Security Conference Chairman Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger opened the discussions.

Dwayne joined UK colleagues Vice Admiral Sir Clive Johnstone, Commander of NATO Allied Maritime Command, and Vice Admiral Jeremy Kyd, Fleet Commander of the Royal Navy and former Commanding Officer of HMS Queen Elizabeth. The gathering coincided with the conclusion of Finland’s Arctic Council chairmanship and the Arctic Council Ministerial in Rovaniemi. The evening continued with dinner aboard the icebreaker Sisu, with Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini, outgoing Arctic Council Senior Arctic Officials Chair Ambassador Aleksi Härkönen, US Senator Lisa Murkowski and other Arctic colleagues.
