Another way of seeing

The Polar Cinema

A space for polar films: scientific observation, documentary and human stories told from the circumpolar North and circumpolar South.

Discover films, conversations and scientific observation from across the polar world. Settle into the Screen Room, explore a channel, or browse our topic channels to find your next perspective.

Alongside freely available programmes, our curated collections connect you with filmmakers and official viewing platforms. We are building a home for Arctic, Nordic, Baltic and Antarctic storytelling, with new films and partnerships to come.

A HOME FOR POLAR FILM

Your stories. A wider audience.

Are you a director, producer, film board, streaming platform or public broadcaster looking to showcase content from or about the Arctic, Nordic, Baltic or Antarctic regions? We would be happy to hear from you.

We are building The Polar Cinema to connect audiences with compelling films and to support the people who make them. Alongside free films, we welcome conversations about filmmaker channels, licensed collections, ticketed special screenings and live conversations with directors.

Filmmaker channels

Bring your work together in a dedicated collection, with viewing arrangements agreed directly with you.

Premieres & conversations

Explore a shared screening followed by a live online Q&A with the filmmaker and a global audience.

Platform partnerships

Help audiences discover your polar catalogue, with the potential for member offers and licensed viewing packages.

Our proposed paid model would return the majority of viewing revenue to the filmmaker or rights holder, with PRPI retaining an agreed service fee. Paid viewing, subscriptions and special screenings will launch only as the relevant partnerships are agreed.
