About PRPI

Polar Research and Policy Initiative (PRPI) is an international think-tank dedicated to Arctic, Nordic, Baltic and Antarctic affairs. Headquartered in London where it was formally established in 2015 and publicly launched in 2016, PRPI has since developed a strong presence across Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific. Its principal geographies of service today remain the UK, Europe, the Commonwealth and the US.

The initiative connects research with policy and practice, bringing polar perspectives to the world and the world into closer conversation with the Polar regions. Serving as a critical nexus between policy, industry, academia, civil society, media and local communities, PRPI envisions a world where decisions affecting the Arctic and Antarctic are shaped by robust knowledge, sustained dialogue and, in the case of the Arctic, the voices of the people who call the region home. This mission stands firmly on three pillars: sustainable development, environmental stewardship and Indigenous engagement.

To advance this vision, PRPI provides specialised research, advisory, consulting, stakeholder engagement, investment facilitation and media support services. It regularly publishes books, reports and briefings; supports the work of parliamentary groups; and organises events and outreach activities. Furthermore, PRPI advances public awareness and specialist understanding by running dedicated observatories and networks; hosting The Polar Connection - one of the world’s largest platforms for Arctic analysis and commentary - and operating an Arctic Media Hotline to enhance global reporting on polar geopolitics and geoeconomics.
