Tom Field serves as an Associate within the Geopolitics and Security Unit at Polar Research and Policy Initiative.
Tom is currently working as a freelance writer and researcher, predominantly in the areas of Arctic security and conducting political risk analysis for the private sector. Tom has also previously researched and published on reforms to the NATO Defence Planning Process, security and humanitarian issues in the Middle East and North Africa region, and British counter-extremism policy. He has worked for several international relations think tanks to produce work for government departments in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK.
Prior to working in public policy, Tom taught at an East London Sixth Form College, where his students achieved some of the highest grades in the UK in his subject area. He has also managed small and medium sized education projects in Kanungu District, Uganda and for a disability charity.
Outside of his professional and academic interests Tom enjoys current affairs, rugby, swimming, reading, genealogical research and growing bonsai trees and giant vegetables.
