Dispatch, from the Cold Front

The Arctic region spans eight countries and thousands of kilometres. Due to its extensive size, diversity, and remoteness, connecting with northerners across the Arctic can pose a challenge for organisations and media outlets working in the region.

At the grassroots level, one of the ways northerners identify with their community and stay up-to-date on local and global current events is through radio. In this sense, organisations working in the Arctic can use radio as a means to build relationships with northern communities.

Dispatch, from the Cold Front is a radio show serving as a platform to share policy updates from across the Arctic, as well as music from all eight Arctic countries. Whether you live in the Arctic region, or are simply interested in Arctic issues, Dispatch, from the Cold Front champions the idea that listeners can have an interest in Arctic music as well as Arctic policy.

Alycia Mutual (PRPI Arts, Culture, and Heritage Associate) is hosting the show at CFUR Radio, a community and college radio station at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, Canada. Dispatch, from the Cold Front is co-produced by Polar Research and Policy Initiative (PRPI) and CFUR Radio.

The one hour-long programme is broadcasted every two weeks and is uploaded for online streaming.
